The task is an engine that's SIMPLE, reasonably lightweight, extensible and cross-platform. The engine will be modeled on the SimpEngine from the book, OPENGL GAME PROGRAMMING, by Kevin Hawkins and Dave Astle.
So many of the 3d engines out there are bulky and complex. Many times the documention is outdated, or even not available. Well, this promises to be well-documented, with tutorials that actually run out of the box. Ultimately, SOGL will be the basis for an example game.
Whoever said that game programming has to be complex? This will be the simple alternative.
